About CertiPUR-US Seal,These days, more and more memory foam mattress brands print CertiPUR-US seal on their product images and official sites. You must have some questions about the green color logo. This post is going to answer those questions.
What is CertiPUR-US?
The CertiPUR-US is a program to test if flexible polyurethane foam is healthy and durable to us people. Certified foam mattresses aren’t made with ozone depleters, PBDE, mercury, lead and other heavy metals, formaldehyde and phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Besides, Volatile Organic Compound emissions have to attain the standard of less than 0.5 parts per million.
Who manages the certification?
Alliance for Flexible Polyurethane Foam, Inc. (AFPF) manages CertiPUR-US program, which is an association developed by members of the global foam industry. Learn more about the association, click here http://www.afpf.com/geninfo.html
Some mattress manufacturers and associations blame that they created certifications to certify themselves. Although the foam test is conducted by an independent third party, the relation between AFPF and the program makes it carry less conviction.
And some criticize that foam industry regard the foam test program as an effective marketing tool. It helps manufacturers and retailers sell more foam mattresses because customers tend to buy certified products. The certification program peace their mind that memory foam contain unhealthy content.
Who is on the list?
Since the program is open to all foam makers, you could find US and China foam producers. Up to now, 148 mattress brands are on the list, including Dynasty Mattress, Sleep Innovations, LUCID, Linen Spa, Night Therapy, Red Nomad, Dreamfoam Bedding, Best Price Mattress, etc.
